Since getting hired in January, Matt LaFleur's days have been filled with staff interviews and hiring, system installation, scheduling and even more administrative work. He's also been a part of the draft planning with General Manager Brian Gutekunst, attending the NFL Scouting Combine and making another trip to the league meetings
He even put his stamp on Lambeau's decor, ordering a new paint job for several areas in and around the locker room. In fact, LaFleur expressed his amazement today at how cooperative everyone in the building has been and how quickly his suggestions became reality.
Tuesday, at long last, he was the Head Coach of the Green Bay Packers on a football field.
The voluntary veteran mini-camp opened with the first of only two workouts and a final, light walk through on Thursday. Teams with new coaching staffs are allowed a second spring camp.
If all the long hours spent over the past four months was a necessary evil, LaFleur was finally in the element he was looking forward to the most.

I talked with several players in the locker room after the workout and they agreed the energy level was through the roof.
Davante Adams said the speed at the morning walk through was probably faster than the coaches wanted but showed how anxious the players were to get started.
Aaron Rodgers said he spent more off-season study time than ever before learning just his second offensive system in 15 seasons. He also joked about the video instruction sessions which show nothing but big plays the offense can produce.
Only the most basic offensive concepts have been taken to the field this first week. With a series of organized team activities set for May and the mandatory mini-camp in June, there will be plenty more on-field workouts coming, but LaFleur was clearly fired up about his first "real" day as a head football coach.
