Beck released "Where Its At" in 1996 as the first single from the album
Odelay.
Beck wrote it as an ode to early hip-hop DJs with "two turntables and a microphone" and references the odd jobs that he worked to get by while traveling the country for shows early in his career.
Many critics thought Beck was going to be a one hit wonder after "Loser," but "Where Its At" was well received reaching #5 on the Modern Rock Tracks and #61 on the Hot 100. Beck won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Performance for "Where Its At" in 1996.
