Porno for Pyros released the song "Pets" as the second single from their 1993 album
Porno for Pyro.
Though Perry Farrell's solo stuff didn't strike a chord with Jane's Addiction fans "Pets" impressed people. It reached #1 on the Alternative songs chart and #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks for several weeks. The song also helped launch the record to #3 on the Billboard Hot 200!
The song is about dissatisfaction with the human race and how we are doing ourselves in (faster than the dinosaurs ever did). Maybe aliens will take over and treat us as pets.
