Everclear remade Thin Lizzy's 1976 hit "The Boys Are Back In Town" for the 1999 movie Detroit Rock City.
The original version of the song made it to #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song wasn't even on the pitch list for singles to be released. In fact, Thin Lizzy had 15 songs demoed for the album and "The Boys Are Back In Town" wasn't even on the list of the 10 songs to be included on the album. Thanks to a couple of radio DJs in Louisville, Kentucky who got a hold of the song and fell in love with it, it not only was included on the album, it was also a huge hit single for the band.
Rolling Stone called "The Boys Are Back In Town" the 499th Greatest Song of All Time. Guitar World ranked it at #38 in the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.
Since it was such a big hit in the mid to late 70s it only makes sense that it would be included on the soundtrack of Detroit Rock City, a movie about music obsessed teens trying to see their idols, KISS, in concert in 1978 in Detroit.
