"I Remember You" was the third release from Skid Row's self titled debut album. It was released in November 1989, but it charted top 20 in six countries in 1990. Every metal band in the late 80s and early 90s had their power ballads and this one proved very successful for Skid Row. It was actually Skid Row's most successful song, but "18 and Life" charted higher in the US.
"I Remember You" made it to #6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #23 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
The song was co-written by bass player Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave Sabo. What really makes the song stand out is lead singer Sabastian Bach's vocals. So much so that when the band re-released the song with their new lead singer, Johnny Solinger, in 2013 they actually called it "I Remember You Two." It came out as a totally different song than the original with a faster tempo and a more limited vocal range so it was not well received by fans.
