90s at 9 This Was Supposed To Be Just a Comedic Filler Song

One of Primus's most successful songs was only supposed to be a comedic filler in their shows.

"Wynona's Big Brown Beaver" was the first single released from Primus's 1995 album Tales From The Punchbowl. It reached #12 on the Alternative Rock Tracks and #23 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts.
The song was inspired by a real life encounter frontman Les Claypool had with a beaver while fly fishing as well as the scene in The Naked Gun when Leslie Nielsen was admiring Priscilla Presley's taxidermy beaver.
The beaver encounter is quite a funny story no wonder Claypool wanted to write a song about it. He was just packing up and heading out after a day of fly fishing when he looked up and saw a big brown beaver. The beaver slapped it's tail, as they do to when they feel threatened, it scared claypool and that scared the beaver in return. He felt that he had to turn this beaver into a character.
The song was meant to be just a comedic filler during performances, but ended up being a pretty big song for the band.
