"Torn" was released by Creed in 1998 as the second single from their 1997 debut album
My Own Prison
. It is the longest track on the album at 6:25, which isn't a radio friendly time. Regardless of the length the song made it to #3 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart.
After lead singer Scott Stapp was kicked out of Christian school he fell on hard times. He was living in an apartment with hardly anything at all. He did have a piece of paper and a pen so he wrote "Torn" based on what he was feeling at this time in his life.
