"Two Princes" was the Spin Doctor's second single off the album
Pocket Full of Kryptonite
in 1993.
The lead singer Chris Barron rocked a very disheveled look at the time, I'd like to call Homeless Chic. His aesthetic fit the song as he sang about a poor boy trying to convince a girl to choose him over his rich counterpart.
The band was labeled alternative which worked out well for the band because that was the direction many Top 40 stations were leaning to offset the heavy Rap and Hip-Hop sound of the era.
Their first single "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" was a modest hit, reaching #17 in the U.S., but "Two Princes" was the stand out on the album. "Two Princes" hit #1 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart, #2 on the Mainstream Rock, #24 on the Adult Contemporary, and #7 on the Hot 100 charts.

I remember going to middle school dances and there was always a group of boys who competed in the air band competition to this song.
