Sublime released "Wrong Way" in 1997 off their 1996 debut album Sublime. It reached #47 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Alternative Songs chart.
The song is about a 12 year old girl named Annie who will soon be forced into a life of prostitution by her alcoholic father. The narrator falls for her and wants to do whatever he has to to get her out of that life, but she ultimately leaves him too.
In an interview with Songfacts.com Sublime bassist Eric Wilson said, "'Wrong Way' is about a girl that we knew in Long Beach. It's almost a true story."
