SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- Hidden Lakes Mobile Home Park in Schofield has been given an extension on their first 30-day checkup after some of the required documents arrived just moments before Tuesday's City Council meeting.
Mayor Kregg Hoehn expressed disappointment in the lack of communication from the owners following Tuesday's meeting, saying things like a site plan for the park were part of the conditions that needed to be met to keep the license in good standing. "The last second before we started our meeting was the first email we got from them. We had nothing in hard copy," said Hoehn.
Those on the council were willing to table the measure to give representatives of the park more time to provide the documents, but many were visibly frustrated with the vote. Alder Dan Vergin expressed concern about what this means for future communication with park owners and managers. Hoehn echoed those concerns. "We need them to work with us and do it in a timely manner. We don't want to go down that line again."
A lack of communication between the city and previous owners of the park was one of the reasons the city voted to pull the operating license back in the spring of 2018 after the facility had racked up hundreds of health and safety violations.
Tuesday's decision to table discussion and action on the matter to January's meeting will have no impact on residents who spent much of 2018 in limbo after the city voted to pull the license in the spring. Following a brief legal battle and help from new owners, a new license was approved in November with conditions including certain inspections and providing the council with a site plan for the facility.

Hoehn said as it stands the Council is most interested in the updated site plan and resolving the parking issue. Statues currently require all mobile home parks to provide 1.5 parking stalls per trailer however due to its age Hidden Lakes could be grandfathered into providing a lower amount of parking.
Hoehn said should representatives of the park fail to come through with the documents again before the January meeting "we are not going to pass this license."
