STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -- The winter graduation ceremony for UW-Stevens Point will be held on Saturday, December 15th.
Nearly 600 students will be graduating from all four colleges during the winter graduation ceremony at UWSP. Senior Communications Specialist Carrie Heibler says seating is first come first serve for the 10 AM ceremony, but that there will be plenty of seats and viewing. "It's first come first serve for seating, but we do have some screens. So any spot in the area will be fine for viewing and seeing your student cross the stage. So we usually do fill our Multi-Activity Center."
Traditionally the University looks for an alumnus to speak at graduation, and Heibler says this year is no different as 3M's CEO will be speaking. "Mike Roman will speak about his experiences at UWSP and how they've helped him in his career. And his parents will also be there to do the alumni pinning ceremony. So it's kind of a family affair."
The ceremony also includes a student speaker, who Heibler mentions is also a Stevens Point native. "Each year we do have a student speaker and this year is Hannah Champion, who is an interior architecture and business graduate. She's from Stevens Point so it would be nice to have a local person standing up and giving the student address."
The ceremony Saturday begins at 10 am with students who are graduating expected to arrive by 9 am. Those attending can park in any lot on campus besides Lot F West which is being used for handicap parking. The ceremony will take place in the Multi-Activity Center on campus at 10 am.
