MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- The Marshfield man accused of shooting his friend as the two were looking at a handgun early Saturday morning is being held on $50,000 bond.
WAOW TV reports 37-year-old William Crowley had been drinking but told officers he didn't feel intoxicated when he was showing off the handgun to a friend. Probable cause documents indicate that the other man told Crowley to fire a shot into the couch, but Crowley didn't think the gun was loaded.
He pulled the trigger anyway and hit both the couch and the friend who told him to fire the shot.
Crowley returns to Wood County court on Thursday where he could face charges of first degree recklessly endangering safety, injury by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon, and felon possessing a firearm.
