COLBY, WI (WSAU) -- The Clark County Sheriff's office says it happened just before 7 AM when a pickup truck headed south on Highway 13 drifted into the northbound lane and struck another truck near Colby Factory Road.
Three passengers in the southbound vehicle were taken by ambulance to a local hospital, including the 44-year-old driver. The driver of the northbound truck, a 23-year-old man, was extracted and airlifted to Marshfield Medical Center.
The crash shut down Highway 13 for several hours Wednesday morning. Speed and slick conditions are said to be a factor.
A third vehicle swerved to miss the accident and ended up in the ditch. Additionally, the driver of a fourth vehicle stopped to assist at the scene but injured her ankle after slipping on the ice.
The Clark County Sheriff's office says the investigation remains open. Other reporting agencies include the Wisconsin State Patrol, Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer Area Ambulance, Owen-Withee Area Ambulance, and the Abbotsford-Colby Police Department.
