VILLAGE OF PORT EDWARDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- A meeting in Port Edwards Thursday night about the future of the Village Police Chief was abruptly postponed.
WAOW TV reports Village Attorney Nicholas Abts received "additional information that there is a possibility of a resolution without an evident hearing taking place," adding that whatever that information was came in late.
Jennifer Iverson, the Village's current Chief, has seen her tenure scarred by controversy from claims that she falsified documents to the hiring of her boyfriend despite his own checkered past. In 2016, the village asked for officer Thomas Roszak's resignation after video surfaced of him shoving a woman into a jail cell.

Residents who spoke with WAOW TV before Thursday's meeting made it clear that Iverson has overstayed her welcome. “She’s got a very corrupt history she should have never been hired. She falsified documents and she hired her boyfriend that had a record and attacked a correctional inmate,” said Scott Noble. “The public wants her gone.”
The Village Police and Fire Commission still held a closed-door meeting, but wouldn't comment on the details or reason for the session. The meeting was originally scheduled to address formal charges that had been brought against the Chief.
A rescheduled hearing date and location has not been set.
