STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- Due to understaffing, the treasurer for Portage County has resigned.
WAOW-TV reports Thomas Mallison submitted his resignation letter to the county on Wednesday. In the letter, Mallison said, “I hope by stepping aside, a real conversation happens regarding how to staff the treasurer’s office moving forward."
He also noted in the letter that the stress of being understaffed led to issues with his personal health.
The county has already started working on their short and long-term plans. An interim-treasurer will be named next week. The board wishes Mallison the best and thanked him for his service.
