WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) -- A 41-year-old woman died in the Wood County Jail Sunday morning shortly after she was booked.
According to a news release from the Sheriff's office, Jennifer Carrick had just been brought in by another agency for unknown charges. Four hours after she was booked a cellmate reported that she was unresponsive.
EMS responders attempted life-saving measures but they were unsuccessful. The preliminary investigation found that Carrick had concealed an unknown substance in a body cavity, later ingesting that substance after she was booked.
The incident remains under investigation by an outside source.
