TOWN OF OGEMA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- A family in the Price County Town of Ogema is in need of help and support after their house burned to the ground, killing their four-year-old child who was trapped inside the inferno.
Neighbors tell WAOW TV that the family has lost everything. “It’s the worst thing that can possibly ever happen,” said Ogema resident Ryan Page. “You wake up every day and hope that the day is going to be as good as the next. Then when something like this happens in your community all you can do is hope, pray, and help the family out. The community will come together, especially in these small towns, and donate and help out.”
Fire officials are continuing to investigate the fire and have released few details. We do know that the blaze caused the entire two-story structure and its roof to collapse on the basement, and that the blaze was reported by a neighbor who said the child was inside at the time. The parents were also there when the fire started.
Crews were unable to save the four-year-old trapped inside due to the intensity of the fire.
Anyone wishing to donate items such as clothing, children's toys, coloring books, or other household necessities can do so at the Ogema House Hotel, Raabs Extra Innings or the Raul Trail Cafe.
