ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) -- An Antigo man accused of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend was sentenced on Tuesday, one day before his jury trial was set to begin.
Cory Brown, 40, pled guilty to four of the more than 20 charges he was facing in the September incident including Attempt 2nd-Degree Intentional Homicide, False Imprisonment, Strangulation and Suffocation, and Contact after Domestic Abuse Arrest.
A judge then scented him to seven and a half years in the Wisconsin Prison system followed by ten years of extended supervision on the Attempted Intentional Homicide count, along with two other three-year sentences to run concurrently.
Brown was also fined for the Contact after Domestic Abuse charge. He must also submit a DNA sample.
Online court records indicate Brown did express remorse to the victim in the case before the sentencing was handed down.
Charges against him stem from an incident at the woman's home in Crandon where Brown beat her to the point of unconsciousness. When police caught up with him after the incident he reportedly told them "what are you going to do without my side of the story? I have nothing to tell you, let's go."
